This spectacular coastal nature reserve is situated west of the popular town of Mossel Bay, on the southern Cape coast. This coastline is washed by the warm Indian Ocean, and the reserve boasts 9km of access to sandy beaches.
Description:
The reserve has an abundance of sea, bird and wild life, and the reserve aims to preserve the coastal dunes and reintroduce many of the coastal fynbos which has been lost over the years.
Animals include bush buck, grysbok and cerval. Dolphins and whales (seasonal) can also be spotted. Bird life includes raptors, sea birds, sunbirds, Knysna loeries, and many more. This is a veritable wonderland of flowering fynbos, covering valleys, plains and coastal dunes. Milkwoods grace the valleys between the dunes, and these provide food, shelter and protection to the birds and animals on the estate.
Activities on the estate include swimming, body boarding, beach walks, hikes and mountain biking. The estate is wheel chair friendly, with high quality roads within the estate, and leading right down to the beach. The architectural guidelines are influenced by coastal farm houses. Roofs can be clad with tiles, thatch or corrodeck, and exterior walls are painted white. Large patios are encouraged for outdoor living and to take advantage of the beautiful surroundings.
